About $1.68 billion worth of narcotics has been burned at the Caroni Cremation site.
Planned by the TTPS, this exercise was witnessed by Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro and Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander.
Among the substances destroyed were: cocaine, marijuana, heroin and ecstasy.
These are associated with matters handled by the Eastern, North Eastern, and Southern divisions, as well as the Special Investigations Unit.
Speaking to reporters at the site, the Top Cop said the TTPS wanted to demonstrate accountability and transparency by destroying the narcotics for all to see.
