Thieves have removed all 19 anchors securing temporary safety buoys at Pigeon Point Heritage Park, and five newly installed buoys have also been cut and stolen.

THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine described the acts as a blatant disregard for public safety and warned that they will not be tolerated.

The Office of the Chief Secretary reported that temporary buoys were installed on April 13th, following a jet ski accident earlier that month which claimed the life of seven-year-old Angelica Jogie.

However two days later, sections of the barriers began washing ashore.

A new $400,000 permanent demarcation system was installed between October 13th and 17th at Pigeon Point, Store Bay and Buccoo beaches.

However, on October 19th, five buoys and about 30 feet of rope were reported cut and removed at Pigeon Point.
