The TTPS has launched the new Diplomatic Security Unit to protect foreign missions in Trinidad and Tobago.
At a launch held this morning at the St Clair Police Station, Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro said the new unit will fall under the Special Branch and comes in response to evolving security demands.
The Top Cop says the new Unit will be staffed based on its specific roles and responsibilities.
He added that officers will not be drawn from the Inter-Agency Task Force or other tactical units, but declined to disclose the number of officers assigned or other operational details.
T&T is currently host to 28 resident embassies and high commissions, along with two consulates general.
