The TTPS is investigating an incident in which an alderman was beaten by a group of students in Port of Spain.
The incident occurred along Dundonald Street on Monday.
Wayne Griffith says he was beaten when he tried to intervene after seeing a group of students assaulting another boy.
Following the incident, he found personal items missing, including his phone.
According to the TTPS, five students identified as being involved in the incident have reportedly been suspended.
It adds that the victim has also been interviewed, and assures the public that the matter is being treated seriously.
