Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro insists he followed the established process when applying emergency leave.
The Top Cop says the application for five days was made to the Homeland Security Minister on August 10th, after information from the Director of the Strategic Services Agency and Head of the Special Branch.
After the leave was approved, he said he received information that the relevant correspondence had been sent to the Police Service Commission.
The Commissioner believes his absence and the appointment of an Acting Commissioner has been politicized.
The Top Cop also declined to say the reason for his absence, stating only that he the appropriate authorities have been briefed.
Commissioner Guevarro also insisted that the TTPS was not in disarray in his absence, as there is a robust hierarchy that is fully capable of maintaining operational stability.
