Five civilians were rescued at Blanchisseuse Beach over the weekend by two members of the T&T Regiment.
The two were carrying out a routine patrol near the Blanchisseuse Community Centre around 4pmon Saturday, when they noticed a man and two children struggling in the water.
The Regiment says the Sergeant obtained a life ring from a nearby resort and remained on shore to secure and manage the rescue rope, while the Lance Corporal, who is a patrol medic, entered the water.
He was able to get the life ring to the three while the Sergeant assisted from the shore to bring them to safety.
While the rescue was unfolding, a man and a woman entered the water to help and found themselves in difficulty as well.
The two soldiers were also able to help them back to shore.
All five were subsequently assessed by the Lance Corporal, who found no immediate medical concerns.
