Police in New York City have denied a permit for a parade in Brooklyn to celebrate Trinidad and Tobago’s 64th Independence.
According to a report by Pix11 News, the event was due to take place on Sunday, but was not approved by the NYPD due to concerns over the planned route.
The parade denial forms reportedly point to a substantial and unreasonable impact on traffic, including established bus and truck routes.
The NYPD says the event would also require police resources that would adversely impact its ability to maintain adequate coverage in the surrounding area.
The report says it is still unclear if the parade will be rescheduled or rerouted.
