More contraband has been seized after being thrown over the wall at the Port of Spain prison.
Around 7:55am yesterday, prison officers received information that several items had been thrown into the Remand Airing Yard from along Gordon Street.
They subsequently found:
- 10 packs of L&M cigarettes
- 20 packs of Du Maurier cigarettes
- One cellphone
- One wireless headset
- One charging cable
- A quantity of plant-like material resembling marijuana
This is the latest in a string of incidents where items were thrown onto the compound, and the Prison Service says it highlights the persistent attempts by individuals to circumvent security measures and introduce contraband for the benefit of inmates.
It reminds that bringing, throwing, conveying, or causing a prohibited article to be supplied to a prisoner, or introducing a prohibited article by any means into a prison, constitutes a serious offence.
