Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says she will only authorize special operations in Government controlled areas.
Her insistence follows continued PNM opposition to the Special Operations Bill, with the Prime Minister defiantly stating that she is “not bothered” if the party continues to allow its constituencies to “be destroyed from within”.
In the statement shared on social media, she refers to the Opposition’s objections as “predictable, comical, manufactured drama” and accuses them of misleading persons into believing the Government wanted terrorize their supporters.
The Prime Minister insists she is “not begging” those that don’t want to be helped, and says the proposed legislation will instead be implemented in “the 26 UNC-held constituencies, 70 UNC-held local government electoral districts and in the two TPP-held constituencies after consultation with Chief Secretary Farley Augustine.”
