The celebrations for T&T’s 64th Independence Anniversary will include a display featuring approximately 500 drones, silent fireworks and the traditional military parade.
Also, aside from the change in the exact location at the Queen’s Park Savannah, the military parade itself will be largely unchanged.
Details of the celebrations were revealed during a media conference held yesterday.
Chief of Defence Staff, Commodore Don Polo, says the military component will include 11 armed detachments, which will comprise two from the T&T Regiment, two from the Coast Guard, two from the Air Guard, one from the Reserves, two from the Police Service, and two from the Cadet Force.
Meanwhile, Communications Strategist at the Culture Ministry, Jerome Lewis, says the drone and silent fireworks display will begin around 8pm.
The drone display in particular will see the formation of patriotic images in the sky “similar to what Machel Montana had at Flava last year.”
Also speaking was Deputy Police Commissioner, Suzette Martin, who says the TTPS will maintain a strong presence throughout to ensure law and order.
She also reminded of the traffic and parking restrictions that will be in place during the day.
