TCL’s global parent company, Cemex, has been recognised by the Inter-American Development Bank for its road safety practices across Latin America and the Caribbean.

An IDB study highlighted Cemex’s safety programmes as an example of effective private-sector action, noting a 54 percent reduction in company-related traffic accidents over six years.

“Health and safety is our highest priority, and road safety is an essential part of how we operate across the region,” said Alejandro Ramírez, President of Cemex South, Central America, and the Caribbean. “By combining technology, training, and operational discipline, we continue working to prevent incidents and protect drivers, motorcyclists, and other road users.”

The programme includes vehicle inspections, driver monitoring, route planning and technology to reduce blind spots.

In Trinidad and Tobago, TCL has also promoted road safety awareness among students, vulnerable road users and suppliers, helping thousands better understand how to interact safely with heavy vehicles.
