An elderly man was rescued from a densely forested area in the middle of the night, after wandering away from his Cumuto home.
Around 4pm yesterday, the Hunters Search and Rescue Team led by Vallence Rambharat received a call from the family of 68-year-old Elijah Hitlal of Cumuto, who had not been seen for the day.
A search party led by Elkin James responded and arrived in the area around 9pm.
Starting at the back of the family home, they tracked footsteps into the forested area and later came across Hitlal in a rosseau patch, about three kilometres away.
Although barefoot, muddied and disoriented, he was able to slowly walk out and was taken by ambulance for medical treatment.
103.1FM News understands he had a significant number of thorns embedded in his body, and remains warded at this time.
