Attorney General John Jeremie says legislative reform is needed to better protect young people from the potential harms associated with alcohol, cannabis, tobacco and gambling.
Addressing the Lower House this afternoon, he outlined the purpose of the Miscellaneous Provisions Alcohol, Cannabis, Dangerous Drugs, Gambling and Tobacco Bill, 2026.
Mr Jeremie said reaching the age of majority does not necessarily mean young adults should have unrestricted access to all regulated substances and activities.
The AG said the Government maintains that stronger regulation is necessary to address the potential long-term harm to young people associated with alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and gambling.
