St Lucia Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to stronger regional cooperation following talks with Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar in Port of Spain on Thursday.

During a courtesy call at the Diplomatic Centre, both leaders discussed deepening collaboration in key areas including energy, trade, tourism, health, culture, and ICT development.

Prime Minister Pierre said the meeting reflected the strong and enduring relationship between the two sister nations, built on shared history and mutual respect.

“We engaged in productive dialogue on deepening cooperation across key areas of mutual interest, including energy, trade, tourism, health, culture and ICT development. These sectors remain critical to advancing sustainable growth and improving the quality of life for our people,” he said.

“We also exchanged views on the opportunities for progress within CARICOM, as we continue to strengthen regional integration and collective resilience in an increasingly complex global environment.”

The leaders also exchanged views on advancing regional progress through CARICOM, with Pierre set to assume chairmanship of the regional body in July.

“I am encouraged by the spirit of collaboration that defined our engagement, and we concluded with a shared commitment to further deepen cooperation between St Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago for the benefit of our citizens and the wider Caribbean region,” he said.
