Prem Nandlal has been appointed Chairman of the new Board of Directors for the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards.

Instruments of appointment were handed out today by Trade Minister, Satyakama Maharaj.

Avion Rayanne Oliver will serve as Vice Chair, with Christine Gildharry, Alisha Mohammed Stephens, Shivanand Moosai, Shawn Philmore Martin, Nassar Hosein, Joy Roma Santo, and Imtiaz Hyder Ali as directors.

The Trade Ministry said the appointments support Government’s efforts to strengthen T&T’s national quality infrastructure standards, testing, certification and other systems that help safeguard consumers, improve business performance and build confidence in locally produced goods and services.

Mr Maharaj also outlined the role of quality in his Ministry’s new strategic direction, saying testing and certification can improve product consistency, reduce technical barriers and support access to regional and international markets.

For citizens, he said a stronger quality system means greater assurance that goods and services meet established safety, quality and performance requirements.
