DOMA President Gregory Aboud is calling for upgrades to Port of Spain’s water infrastructure, following yesterday’s disruption to the city’s water supply.
The T&T Express reported that a leaking pipeline on Independence Square North affected most of downtown, with some businesses, including food outlets, having to purchase truck-borne water.
WASA reportedly completed repairs shortly after 3:30PM with supply returning to the downtown area around 5PM.
Mr Aboud said too much treated water is being lost through leaks, which sometimes results in reduce water pressure or disruptions for several hours.
He added that while equipment failures will happen, the infrastructure is needed to reduce disruptions and water loss.
