MP and former PNM Minister Marvin Gonzales is calling on the Government to answer certain questions regarding its plan for 30 joint army-police posts.
It follows an incident on Thursday, where construction on a post at Eddie Hart was stopped by the Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation, which said it did not know about the project.
With regard to that incident, Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander told 103.1FM News that he is working to resolve some administrative matters, and heavy equipment has since been seen operating at the site.
In a social media statement, Mr Gonzales called on the Prime Minister to answer several questions, such as the estimated construction cost for the posts, whether that money is already catered for, if proper procurement processes were followed and whether there was adherence to planning and local government laws.
He went on to state, “Remember, if you don’t answer the questions, you are the Chief Architect of the “Lawless Dump” that you conveniently complain about. And you are a hypocrite to even ask questions about how the PNM raised money to finance construction and refurbishment of its Headquarters.”
