Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says there is “absolutely no doubt” Venezuelan natural gas will reach T&T within the next year.

Speaking to the media following this morning’s opening of the new Law Term, she said agreements already signed with several major energy companies’ support that expectation.

The Prime Minister also expressed her willingness to meet with Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez.

She said Foreign Affairs Minister Sean Sobers is working on the arrangements for the two leaders to meet, at the United Nations General Assembly in New York later this month.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister is assuring the public that the new joint army-police posts will be “opened soon”.

She said three units have already been completed in Tobago and expects to travel to the sister isle within weeks to officially open the posts, along with the new terminal at the ANR Robinson International Airport.

Last month, the Prime Minister announced plans to establish 30 joint army-police posts across T&T within four months, as part of efforts to strengthen the security presence nationwide.
