Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has expressed support for law enforcement officers, amid ongoing concerns about violent crime.
In a social media post, the Prime Minister said “people sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.”
She thanked law enforcement officers, saying they go out daily to protect law-abiding citizens from armed violent criminals.
The Prime Minister referenced the quote, “the most evil among us always expect the rest of us to live by morals that they don’t possess themselves.”
Her remarks come amid public debate over police action, in the case involving the death of Joshua Samaroo.
