Newly-installed lights have been commissioned at the Soogrim Ramdhaniesingh Recreation Ground in Lachoos Road on Monday night.

Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath turned the switch to put on the lights at the ground which is used by the East Indians Sports and Cultural Club.

“From stagnation to action, the Ministry of Public Utilities through TTEC continues to deliver—fulfilling its mandate and making a real difference in communities.  These lights will support evening sports, recreation, and a safer environment for residents,” Mr Padarath stated.

The club’s PRO Greg Deonarinesingh said the occasion was historic for the club and the community and noted the development would aid sports and community development in the Penal area.

“Today is a historic day, an historic day for our community, and our area,” he said, “We are extremely grateful, extremely thankful.”

“We intend to make good use of it for sporting development, for youth development, and for sporting and cultural activities.”
