Local Government Minister Khadijah Ameen says efforts are underway to secure land for the construction of municipal police stations across the country.
She pledged this commitment today, during an address at the Municipal Police Recognition and Commendation Ceremony.
Minister Ameen acknowledged current concerns about working conditions and says steps are being taken to improve facilities.
Minister Ameen said plans will proceed despite limited funding for Regional Corporations.
Minister Ameen also pointed to the need for legislative reform to address gaps in the system, while maintaining accountability within the service.
She said recommendations from ongoing consultations will help guide future improvements to the municipal police framework.
