Human trafficking remains a global threat and National Security Minister Roger Alexander is cautioning the public about scams and false promises that could lead to exploitation.

His comments came as T&T marks World Day Against Trafficking in Persons today, under the theme “Trapped Behind the Scam”.

The Minister said traffickers use fake job offers and promises, often through online platforms, to target vulnerable people, before subjecting them to exploitation, debt and abuse.

He said the Government will continue its efforts to to disrupt trafficking networks, including its work through the Counter Trafficking Unit.

Minister Alexander is encouraging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases of human trafficking.

T&T remains classified as a Tier 2 country in the US Trafficking in Persons Report, meaning the country does not fully meet the minimum standards for eliminating trafficking but efforts continue to address the issue.
