Opposition Chief Whip Marvin Gonzales is claiming that WASA has increased several fees, effective July 1st, with some residential connections rising by as much as 700%.
Speaking during an Opposition media conference today, he alleged that the fees are associated with services provided by WASA’s Infrastructure and Compliance Department.
This, he said, is responsible for reviewing and inspecting water and wastewater infrastructure connected to new homes, developments and other buildings.
As a result of this, Mr Gonzales has called for resignations and the removal of WASA’s board.
Mr Gonzales claimed the public and stakeholders were not adequately informed or consulted about the changes.
He said “he will not stay out of WASA business”, despite being told to do so by the PSA President Felisha Thomas and pledged to continue to raise concerns about the Authority.
