A female prison officer held yesterday was attempting to smuggle cigarettes, and possibly marijuana, into the Women’s Prison in Golden Grove.
The officer was supposed to be on vacation leave until March 2027.
She was searched while attempting to enter the prison around 8:45am and was found carrying 458 packs of cigarettes, 189 grams of a plant-like material, two headsets, eight AAA batteries and 12 effervescent tablets.
Investigations by the TTPS are continuing.
