A drone has been seized at the Port of Spain Prison.
Around 4:30am on Sunday, officers at the prison intercepted and confiscated a grey DJI drone with a length of string attached.
The discovery is believed to be linked to attempts to use unmanned aerial technology to facilitate the introduction of prohibited items into correctional facilities.
Investigations are continuing, with the help of external law enforcement agencies.
Acting Prison Commissioner, Elvin Scanterbury, says such technology continues to be exploited by criminal elements to move contraband.
He warned however that the T&T Prison Service remains committed to strengthening its intelligence-led security measures to detect and prevent such activities.
