Jamaica Kingsmen

Jamaica Kingsmen is the newest franchise in the Caribbean Premier League.

A logo was unveiled on the official CPL Facebook page today.

The post was captioned, “The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is proud to officially confirm that the newest franchise will be known as the Jamaica Kingsmen, marking an exciting new chapter for cricket in the region.”

The franchise will be based in Kingston and will call Sabina Park its home ground.

The team is owned by a USA-based ownership group led by Fawad Sarwar, which also owns the Hyderabad Kingsmen, which competes in the Pakistan Super League.

Mr Sarwar said, “It is an honour to bring the Kingsmen brand to the Caribbean. Jamaica has a rich cricketing heritage and passionate fans, and we are committed to building a team that reflects that pride and competes at the highest level. We look forward to contributing to the continued growth of the CPL and to creating something truly special for the people of Jamaica in true Tallawah spirit.”

The previous Jamaica-based franchise, the Tallawahs, competed for 10 years, from 2013 to 2023.

During this time, they won three CPL titles: in 2013, 2016 and 2022.
