Agriculture Minister Ravi Ratiram has promised to refurbish the Otaheite Fishing Facility.
As part of that effort, he says work to restore electricity is set to begin today, with funding also secured for major repairs.
Mr Ratiram met yesterday with members of the Otaheite fishing community, who complained about the deplorable state of the facility.
Issues highlighted included dilapidated roofs, the absence of electricity, a lack of cold storage and functioning washroom facilities, and a dangerous slipway.
The Minister has since noted that continued dialogue and collaboration remain critical to ensuring the sustainable development and growth of the industry.
