A 16-year-old boy has been charged with several counts of harassment following investigations into cyber-related threats targeting students and staff of the Rio Claro East Secondary School.
Police say the threats, which were made between November 2025 and February 2026, involved bomb threats and menacing messages sent through SMS and TikTok accounts operating under various aliases.
Investigators from the Eastern Division, assisted by the Cyber and Social Media Unit, carried out extensive enquiries which led to several electronic devices being seized from the teen’s home under warrants obtained through the Interception of Communications Act.
Police also traced multiple IP addresses linked to the threatening TikTok accounts, which reportedly contained references to shootings, explosives and attacks against students and members of staff.
The charges were laid on Friday after legal advice was received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Ms. Bhola.
