1,000 pounds of waste has been removed from Quinam Beach in Penal.
On December 18th, the Works Ministry’s the Coastal Protection Unit partnered with Trinbago International Coastal Clean-up, to spearheaded the exercise.
Also joining the effort were several of the Ministry’s State Agencies, such as Lake Asphalt, National Quarries, NIDCO, PLIPDECO, Port Authority, and UDeCOTT.
Additionally, there was support from the Penal/Debe Regional Corporation and TTPS.
Together, 209 volunteers collected 260 pounds of plastic, 200 pounds of glass, and 540 pounds of miscellaneous waste.
The Ministry is urging persons to take along a garbage bag the next time they head to a beach and to dispose of their waste properly.
