US President Donald Trump says a strike has been carried out in the southern Caribbean against a drug-carrying vessel that departed from Venezuela.
According to AP News, the announcement was made during a meeting at the Oval Office, where he said โwe shot a boat, a drug-carrying boat,โ adding that there were โa lot of drugsโ on the vessel.
It was described as a โlethal strikeโ by US State Secretary Marco Rubio via X, who added that it was being operated by a designated narco-terrorist organization.
Even though the US has not signalled any planned invasion, Venezuelaโs President Nicolรกs Maduro said troops have been deployed along the countryโs coast and border.
