Three classrooms and the principalβs office were destroyed when fire broke out early today at an administration building of the St. Peterβs Primary School in Pointe-a-Pierre.
There has been no confirmation on the cause of the blaze, but according to a Guardian Media report, sources said it may have been maliciously set.
Minister Ernesto Kesar has given assurances that work will be done to prepare the school before the new term.
It was just one of several buildings that house the school, so the other classes remain intact.
The Minister, meanwhile, has questioned the lack of on-site security following Petrotrinβs closure in 2018.
The schoolβs principal also said repeated appeals were made in the past for a guarded security booth or fencing around the school.
However, none were provided.
