Over $36 million dollars worth of cocaine was seized during a coordinated vehicle interception in Freeport yesterday.
Acting on a hot pursuit transmission, officers engaged a silver Nissan B15 motor vehicle, which stopped abruptly at Roopsingh Road and Joyce Road South.
A male occupant exited the vehicle and fled into nearby bushes, evading capture despite extensive searches.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a black garbage bag and two white bags with multiple packages containing cocaine.
In all, there were 72 individually wrapped packages, with a total weight of 77.81kgs, and valued at TT$36,167,577.60.
During the search of the vehicle, officers also discovered a wallet containing several forms of ID and official documents, which have provided strong leads into the identity of the suspect.
An intiail statement from the TTPS listed the value of the drugs as $3.1 million.
