Kaia Sealy has been granted $700,000 bail, as she faces manslaughter and multiple firearm-related charges arising from a fatal police shooting in St Augustine on January 20th.
The 25-year-old appeared virtually before a Tunapuna court this morning after returning to Trinidad from Panama and being arrested at Piarco International Airport earlier in the day.
She is accused of unlawfully killing Joshua Samaroo and shooting at police officers during the incident.
According to the T&T Express, the State says it will rely on 30 witnesses, 42 statements, and forensic evidence, including post-mortem and toxicology reports, in its prosecution.
The prosecution did not oppose bail, which was granted with one surety.
Sealy is due back in court on October 8th for a status hearing, with a sufficiency hearing set for October 22nd.
