Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is expected to meet India’s External Affairs Minister Dr Subrahmanyan Jaishankar during his official visit to Trinidad and Tobago later this week.

Dr Jaishankar will also meet Foreign Affairs Minister Sean Sobers and attend a diaspora event at the Mahatma Gandhi Centre on Saturday.

Indian High Commissioner, Dr Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit, told 103.1FM News that the May 8th – 9th visit will be historic.

The High Commissioner added that follow-up initiatives from Prime Minister Modi’s visit last year are ongoing, with cultural exchanges and other projects in progress to strengthen cooperation.

At a recent event, Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath said Dr Jaishankar’s visit will include the opening of an agro-processing facility in Couva South, a prosthetic limb centre in Siparia, and the distribution of laptops to students.
