Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is expected to meet Indiaโ€™s External Affairs Minister Dr Subrahmanyan Jaishankar during his official visit to Trinidad and Tobago later this week.

Dr Jaishankar will also meet Foreign Affairs Minister Sean Sobers and attend a diaspora event at the Mahatma Gandhi Centre on Saturday.

Indian High Commissioner, Dr Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit, told 103.1FM News that the May 8th โ€“ 9th visit will be historic.

The High Commissioner added that follow-up initiatives from Prime Minister Modiโ€™s visit last year are ongoing, with cultural exchanges and other projects in progress to strengthen cooperation.

At a recent event, Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath said Dr Jaishankarโ€™s visit will include the opening of an agro-processing facility in Couva South, a prosthetic limb centre in Siparia, and the distribution of laptops to students.
