Desilting works are currently underway along the La Cuesa River in Carapichaima.
According to the Works Ministry, this is being done through its Drainage Division, as part of flood mitigation efforts across the country.
It says works at the location include the restoration of eroded embankments, as well as removal of accumulated silt and vegetation to help improve water flow and reduce the risk of flooding to nearby communities and infrastructure.
The Wet Season was declared early this year by the Met Service, which has forecast near-normal to below-normal rainfall.
