Culture Minister Michelle Benjamin is being urged to speak out in support of the Silver Stars Steel Orchestra.
Several of its members have been charged following an incident with police at the Tribe band launch at the Queen’s Park Savannah last weekend.
The TTPS claims the members became confrontational after being told to stop playing music, however the band alleges that it was the officers who were aggressive.
During an Opposition media conference today, PNM MP Hans Des Vignes insisted that the band members are not criminals.
Mr Des Vignes also accused the Ministry of financially letting down stakeholders, claiming that most vendors from this year’s Flava Village have still not been paid.
He added that the Emancipation Committee is also awaiting word on their allocation for this year’s Emancipation Village,
