Works Minister Jearlean John insists there is no backlog of cargo at the Port of Spain and Scarborough Ports, even though the capacity for cargo across the sea-bridge has deteriorated.

Following a visit of the Blue Wave Harmony earlier today, Minister John confirmed all cargo is being cleared and transported on schedule.

Addressing what the Ministry describes as an inaccurate narrative circulating about recent backlogs, Ms John says there is no need to panic.

The Ministry says reliable cargo transportation remains a national priority and that the Blue Wave Harmony remains in sea trials, with commercial operations expected to begin on March 1st.

Meanwhile, the ongoing limitations in cargo sailings continue to impact hardwares in Tobago.

Three hardwares confirmed a persistent shortage of construction materials to 103.1FM News, including cement, with shipments arriving from Trinidad primarily to fulfill customer orders.

However, one major supermarket chain confirmed there is no shortage of essential food items in its stores, and shelves remain well-stocked.
