The Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service said a team of its officers found missing hiker Jessica Jordan trapped in a water-filled hole in difficult terrain on Sunday.

In a statement, the Fire Service stated that it used a mechanical advantage system from fallen trees to extract Jordan’s body, with the operation taking over an hour due to challenging conditions.

The team then spent about eight hours navigating rugged terrain to transport the body to an area accessible by vehicle.

The Fire Service has expressed its condolences to her family.

On January 11, 2026, the TTFS LSAR1 Unit responded to a report of a missing hiker in the Madamas Gorges, deploying a multi-member rescue team with support from police, guides, family members, and the Hunters Search and Rescue Team.
