Trade Minister Kama Maharaj has commended the private sector for their response in support of the disaster relief efforts for Jamaica following the passage of Hurricane Melissa.

The Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association responded to government’s call, garnering eight containers of relief supplies valued at TT$4.8 million dollars.

Speaking at the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association awards, Mr Maharaj praised their rapid response.

Meanwhile, former government minister Mervyn Assam received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association at the awards function.

Mr Assam, former Minister of Trade and a former TTMA president, described the award as an “unexpected surprise.”
