President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali on Sunday officially commissioned the Guyana–China Friendship Park on the West Bank of Demerara.
The upgraded facility has been developed into a multi-use recreational space, featuring a lotus pond, pavilion, football field, basketball and tennis courts, jogging track, and a dedicated children’s play area.
It also includes additional amenities such as an open-air theatre, outdoor trampoline, and accessible washroom facilities.
The project was financed through a US$10.8 million grant from China and forms part of a wider series of bilateral initiatives between the two countries spanning infrastructure, health, agriculture, and education.
