A retired police officer who was part of the investigation that led to the arrest of drug lord Dole Chadee has died.
The Trinidad Express reported that retired Senior Superintendent of Police Mervyn Ghatt died on March 29. He was 88.
Ghatt was celebrated for his role in the investigation that brought Chadee and members of his gang to justice.
Chadee and eight of his associates were convicted and executed for their role in the 1994 murders of a Piparo family.
A burial mass for Mr Ghatt is set for Wednesday at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on Harris Promenade from 130pm.
