CARPHA is warning of increased health risks in Jamaica due to disrupted water and sanitation systems, following the Hurricane’s passage.

This includes gastroenteritis, dengue and leptospirosis due to disrupted water and sanitation systems.

A CARPHA team conducted public health assessments in various parishes, identifying major damage to key facilities including the Black River and Savanna-la-Mar hospitals, and multiple shelters.

The agency says follow-up assessments are planned, and a second shipment of public health supplies is being prepared.
