The TTPS is urging drivers to adhere to road traffic laws, as higher fixed penalty fines for traffic violations officially take effect.
Effective January 1st, motorists exceeding the speed limit by 31 km per hour or more will face a $4,500 fine, while those without insurance could be fined $10,000.
DUI offenders will face up to $24,000 for a first offence and $45,000 for a second.
The TTPS is also reminding drivers to ensure their vehicles are inspected, have valid insurance, and to follow the road laws to avoid these increased penalties.
