The T&T Met Service is monitoring a developing tropical system in the Central Atlantic, about 2300 kilometers east of the Lesser Antilles.
While there is not direct threat to T&T, the system has a 70-80% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 2 to 7 days.
The system is moving west-northwest at 40-45 km/h and is expected to pass near or north of the northern Leeward Islands later this week, bringing heavy showers and thunderstorms to the region by mid to late week.
There are no watches or warnings in effect for T&T at this time, however another TTMS update is expected by 2PM tomorrow or sooner if necessary.
