The Caribbean Natural Resources Institute, CANARI, is calling on regional leaders to rethink how they fund climate action.

In a new policy brief, CANARI warns that shifting global politics — including recent U.S. reversals on climate and development aid — are disrupting vital financial flows for Caribbean resilience efforts.

The organization says the devastation from Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica highlights the urgent need for new, sustainable financing models.

CANARI is urging Caribbean nations to strengthen regional cooperation, attract private investment, and explore debt relief to secure climate funds.

Climate finance is expected to take center stage at COP30 in Brazil later this month.
