Aché Abrahams says she will never “go back into the pageant space”.
Ms Abrahams laid out her experience in a YouTube video titled “how pageantry ruined my life”.
In it, she the year and a half she spent representing T&T was the toughest time of her life.
Ms Abrahams lamented that she had to smile while “dealing with things behind closed doors”.
She added that representing her country is what kept her going through a lot of the trials and tribulations.
According to the former Miss World T&T, the experience left her financially, mentally and emotionally drained and “broken”.
While she gave some insight into her experience, she stopped short of giving too many specifics or calling any names.
Ms Abrahams was a standout delegate, eventually finishing in the Top 4 at Miss World 2023.
103.1FM News reached out to the Miss World T&T Organization, which has since issued a statement.
It says, “While we respect the individual experiences and perspectives of all former titleholders, we wish to reaffirm the values and principles of the Miss World title and franchise.”
The organization says it recognizes that pageantry, like any highly visible public platform, may present its challenges.
It adds, “Every pageant journey is unique, and we strive to support every member of our team along the way. Above all, we remain steadfast in our belief that pageantry is a powerful means of uplifting women, nurturing leadership, and creating opportunities for personal and professional growth.”
