West Indies beat Bangladesh by five wickets with 22 balls to spare in the 3rd T20I to record an historic 3-0 sweep.
Chasing 152 for victory, Roston Chase and Ackeem Auguste hit even 50s to inspire the win, after T&T’s Amir Jangoo had hit 34 off 23 balls as an opener.
Earlier, Romario Shepherd took three wickets while Khary Pierre claimed 2 for 23 to restrict Bangladesh to 151 in their 20 overs.
The victory marked the first time that West Indies had recorded a 3-0 sweep outside of home.
West Indies captain Roston Chase said praised the batting of Auguste, who was playing only his fourth T20I.
“Auguste is an impressive player. He has been showing positive signs, he was struggling during his knock, I just told him to keep playing his natural game,” said Chase.
Chase praised the quality of the pitch and was pleased with his team’s work during the series.
“The pitches here were good for strokeplay. We lost the ODIs, so we didn’t want anything less than 3-0. It was lovely to be part of the series,” he said.
Player of the Series Romario Shepherd praised the team on the win.
“Teammates batted fantastic today. Our batters are showing we have good signs in the future,” he said.
The West Indies will now travel to New Zealand, where they will play five T20Is, three ODIs and three Test matches.
