UWI vaccinates over 400 pets against Rabies

Over 400 pets were vaccinated against the rabies virus by the UWI School of Veterinary Medicine, and the Ministry of Health, in recognition of World Rabies Day.

Over two Saturdays this month at the Animals Alive Sanctuary in South Trinidad, 100 student volunteers and staff checked every animal and ensured their files were updated.

In Trinidad, rabies in known to commonly be transmitted by the bite of vampire bats, and the paralytic form is seen in rabid animals.
