The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) is set to confer the title of Professor Emeritus on Tertiary Education Minister Prakash Persad.
In a statement, the university said that Professor Persad has a distinguished career in academia, research and national service spanning over four decades.
The UTT said of Professor Persad, who spent almost two decades at the university, “During his eighteen (18) years at UTT, he exemplified visionary leadership, spearheading advancements in applied research, innovation and industry collaboration.”
Professor Persad earned his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the St Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies.
He also led the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, making significant contributions to regional education and research.
The UTT said that the conferment ceremony is set for Wednesday at 10am at the UTT Chaguanas Campus.
