Venezuela’s ‘Cartel de los Soles’ has been officially labeled as a foreign terrorist organization”, by the United States.
Al Jazeera News reported that earlier today, the Trump administration added the cartel to its list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations citing links to Venezuelan officials.
The designation, published in the Federal Register, allows the US to impose stricter sanctions and target the group’s financial and operational networks.
US officials continue to maintain that the move is aimed at curbing the cartel’s involvement in organized crime and international drug trafficking.
